Ross County is also the central location to recently selected UNESCO World Heritage sites. The sites include Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in Chillicothe, including the Mound City Group, Hopewell Mound Group, Seip Earthworks, High Bank Earthworks, and Hopeton Earthworks. These mounds preserves ancient earthworks, burial mounds from the Hopewell culture, and provides a glimpse into the rich history of Native American mound builders who lived in the area 2,000 years ago.
